Update on the redesign and other stuff

The play-testing is going good so far. The mechanics of the game are working just as I hoped and I haven’t had to make any major changes to the way you play the game at all.

We did discover some areas of improvement on the layout of the cards themselves, and I did a (mostly) minor revision to the look of the cards. But, it helped so much to make the cards more readable, and the game play a little smoother.

It wasn’t a huge deal to do, but I had to touch all 52 cards, plus the Deluxe Expansion cards, so it did take forever.

Here’s a sample of the new look. These Elder Dragons are two of my favorites.

Where we are now

  1. Enter the revision phase and read every card for both grammar and consistency.
  2. Redo the instruction manual to reflect on the changes.
  3. Order a new printing.
  4. Play-test more times with new people
  5. Go back to Step 1 if anything new comes up, or go to Step 6.
  6. Set up some Youtube videos with intros, demos, and FAQs.
  7. Create the downloadable/printable version.
  8. Set up Patreon to distribute the downloadable/printable version.
  9. Publish?
  10. Promote!

It will be a busy 2019, but hopefully well worth it.

Update 1/6/19

I’ve got a first draft of the instruction manual done. Also going through each card to check for syntax and formatting consistency.

I’m also working out the details for the Deluxe Edition and will send off for a prototype of it this week (hopefully.)

Finally, I’m in the process of setting up a demo and presentation to a local high school gaming group this spring.

In other words….progress is being made 🙂

Alpha deck is ready

I got my prototype deck in the mail today. The print quality is excellent. There are a few tweaks I need to make, especially the print on the Blue cards, but overall, everything looks exactly like I hoped it would, including the backs and the box.

Update 12/26/18

All 52 cards of the basic have been completed, plus 3 bonus cards that will be included in a deluxe set. I printed off a test deck to see how gameplay goes, and so far it’s exactly what I envisioned.

I also finished the box design and sent the basic set off to The Game Crafter to print out a prototype for testing.

Coming in 2019

Most of the cards have been designed, and we’re slowly acquiring licenses for art. We’ll start sharing samples as we approach the tentative release date.
